Second: Sharjah Economic Excellence Award – Gold Category, Large Firm Category and Medium & Small Firm Category Criteria

The firm’s tool is assessed through its application of the 32 sub-criteria developed from internationally approved standards designed to assist firms to achieve long-term success. 

1. Leadership

The leadership is concerned about identification and application of values that create the business culture and drive its behavior. The good leadership is considered the prime generator of all business success in its basic components represented in the vision of leadership, assessment of future opportunities and the firm and application of resources required to make these opportunities a reality. The sub-criteria include the following:

Clear Vision and Mission of the firm

Leadership

The role of leadership in upholding the work values and to work on its protection

The role of leadership in productivity, quality and conservation

 

2. Strategic Planning

This part is concerned about the development and amendment of the firm’s vision, message and culture and the translation these elements in wide strategic policies and objects designed to reach the level desired by the firm. The sub-criteria include the following:

How to set goals and time plan that support the firm's vision

Strategic plan

The extent of linked tools between the firm’s values and goals and their application.

How to create cooperation between the firm’s departments and sections

How to keep flexibility in strategic plannin

3. Decision Making

This section deals with the method used by the firm to collect the best available information for taking decisions that increase the firm utmost effectiveness. The sub-criteria include the following:

The extent of consultatio encouragement at all levels

Decision Making

How startegic decisions are taken

The extent of individuals decisions on operational level.

The ability to take decisions especially in challenging times (example to be mentioned).

The extent of taking advantage from strengths and working on their improvement

 

4. Human Resources Management:

These sub-criteria are concerned about recruitment, employment and the firm’s human capital and the creation of positive encouraging environment allowing them to achieve the extreme limit of performance. The sub-criteria include the following

Availabilty of recuirtment transparency, development procedures and rules based on qualifications and skills

Human Resources Management

Paying competitive salaries and set of incentives and bonuses based on performance.

Identify and satisfy the training and development requirements

 

5. Systems & Structures:

This part is concerned about the firm’s operational structure and to offer quality, effectiveness and efficiency of systems and operations used to produce and deliver products and services to customers. The sub-criteria include the following:

The extent of internal systems efficiency.

Systems & Structures

The extent of security and safety laws and regulations conformity.

The extent of administrative system and/or applications conforming the quality systems.

Building and supporting effective work teams in the firms.

The extent of effective financial system in the firm.

 

6. Customer Satisfaction:

This part is concerned about estimating the importance of the customer’s role as a main source of income in the firm and the method of operating policies, individuals, operations and products to reach the highest level of customer satisfaction. The sub-criteria include the following

How to concentrate on customers and satisfy their needs.

Customer  Satisfaction

How to make surveys to measure customer satisfaction.

Offer high quality services and goods.

How to maintain continual improvement.

 

7. Employees Satisfaction

This part is concerned about the method through which the firm is longing to reach the highest limit of its employee’s creativity, productivity and loyalty through the policies intended to confirm achieving the highest levels of employees satisfaction. The sub-criteria include the following:

How services are detected and improved

The means of encouraging and activating recommendations and participations

The extent of providing balanced work and social opportunities

 

8.Social Responsibility

This part is concerned about the role played by the firm for the community benefit. The sub-criteria include the following:

The extent of the firm’s support to its sector

Social Responsibility

The extent of social and voluntarily contributions in the country

The extent of implementing green practices in the firm

Training and recruiting nationals and/or people with special needs

How to overcome obstacles and learning from mistakes

The extent of concentration on customers

The extent of concerntration on Human Resources Management.

Make employees aware about the project importance and encourage them.

 

2. Strategic Planning

Sub - Criteria

Criteria

The existence of clear vision and mission by the firm owner

Strategic Planning

The existence of an important market for the firm  services and/or goods.

How to draw and measure performance plans.

The extent of implementing administrative systems and applications in conformity with quality systems.

The existence of a development and a marketing the firm’s services and/or goods.

 

3. Creativity

Sub - Criteria

Criteria

Innovation in offering new services

Creativity  

Inovation in implementing new production operations.

Use of modern technology systems and methods in the firm’s activity.

 

4. Financial Performance

Sub - Criteria

Criteria

The extent of using successful financial methods.

 

The extent of income variety and keeping its continuity (in comparison with the two previous years)

Financial Performance

The extent of profits development (in comparison with the two past years)

The extent of investment returns development.

 

5. Social Responsibility

Sub - Criteria

Criteria

The extent of the firm’s contribution in transfering knowledge technology.

Social responsibility

Entry in foreign and/or new markets.

A priority in serving national economic sector.

The extent of interaction with the community (offering donations, voulantary works, security and environment)

Training and recruiting nationals and/or people with special needs
